About This Content One of the first generation of British Rail electric multiple units comes to Train Simulator in eye-catching SPT livery.Based on the well-used Mk1body shell design, 91 units were built by Pressed Steel at Linwood in Paisley between 1959 and 1961, although they were not introduced until 1960 for the electrification of the North Clyde and Cathcart Circles lines in Strathclyde.Initially, the EMUs – nicknamed the ‘Blue Trains’ - were classified as AM3 units before the introduction of the TOPS system in the late 1960s, and operated local and suburban passenger services for more than 40 years before being replaced with new generation EMUs in the 2000s.The BR Class 303 for Train Simulator is a former Iron Horse House model, which has been updated to Train Simulator standard, including new scenarios and improved exterior modelling, and is available in Strathclyde Partnership for Transport orange and black livery. The locomotive is also Quick Drive compatible, giving you the freedom to drive the BR Class 303 on any Quick Drive enabled route for Train Simulator, such as those available through Steam. Also included are scenarios specifically for the West Coast Main Line North route (available separately and required to play these scenarios).ScenariosThree scenarios for the West Coast Main Line North route:Lanark LeccyLeaving LarkhallLower Level ElectricMore scenarios are available on Steam Workshop online and in-game. Need to buy the Armstrong Powerhouse Sound Pack to get any enjoyment at all from this unit.. Very Good loco to have if you don't buy anthing, you must get this. Plus in the sale evan better.Preforms well. Good control.. As someone who has actually seen and been on this train i was really disappointed with this EMU. I remember going onto these trains when i was a kid and there would be this weird smell of burning rubber but i loved it! I was hoping for my memories of these EMUs to be revived. Which is why i bought this. The model itself is pretty good and the passenger view is what i remember a 303 interior to look like, but the sounds are awful it doesn't even sound like a 303 it sounds like a 455 even worse the doors have no sounds and there are no compressor sounds! Which really lets it down. Even though i was only 4 years old when these units where withdrawn I can still remeber the sounds of the compressors rattling away as the units pulled into a station. All i can say is don't buy this unless you get the AP sound pack then it'll be worth the money.. I bought this unit to supplement my purchase of the WCML North and regretted it. It does sound nice when accelerating but as you soon as you shut off the power, NOTHING. No sounds, just nothing. It's as if the traction motors have just died. The horn is reused from the Class 37, nothing realistic about that.Avoid if you can.. As usual, terrible reused sounds and awful physics. The brake handle is reused from locomotive brake handles and the horn is dreadful. Class 303s have a pedal to control the horn instead of the lever (the levers were added very lately in the units' lives). Could have been a lot better.Overall: 3\/10. This is certainly a good train, a real delight to drive.. Very Good loco to have if you don't buy anthing, you must get this. Plus in the sale evan better.Preforms well. Good control.. I agree with Jimbow's review - this is pretty rubbish. The acceleration sounds are similar to what I remember the real thing being like but when you shut the throttle all it does is fade out the motor sounds - it's like the throttle is a volume control! And where are the door closing sounds; PSSSSHHH... rumble rumble rumble... THUD! There is a severe lack of attention to detail here which makes for an unsatisfying drive. Very disappointing, not recommended.
